Beckett's books have been shredded! Can you reassemble them?

Beckett's Books is a type of jigsaw puzzle, but instead of putting together images, you're primarily putting together pages of text from books. As you put together the pages of the book, you read the book. Many books are included, from Sherlock Holmes to Tarzan to Mark Twain to The Wizard of Oz to Jane Austen to H G Wells... and many more, over 40 books to solve! The number of tiles per puzzle and the number of lines of text per tile is controllable, making the puzzles easier or more difficult, providing dozens to hundreds of puzzles per book. Puzzle solving becomes a type of "slow reading" as you piece together the words and lines of text. All books included are in English, but books in other languages are supported and may be added to the game. See below for additional books you can add to the game, and read the Help screens in the game to find out how you can add your own books to the game.

The demo is fully functional, but has a limited number of books and puzzles.

Additional books

Once downloaded, you'll need to unZIP these into the PUZZLES sub-folder of your BB "data folder." To find where your BB "data folder" is located, bring up the Help contents in the game, go to the "Technical Info" page. On that page, the second BOLD path is the location of your BB "data folder." On Windows, if there is no PUZZLES folder in that "data folder" location, you'll need to manually create one. On a Mac, use the Finder app to look at the "data folder" location and also manually create a PUZZLES folder there if one doesn't already exist. On a Mac, this "data folder" will be some variation of ./Library/Application Support/Everett Kaser Software/Beckett's Books LIC. NOTE: Depending upon your version of OS X, the 'Library' folder may be hidden. Open the Finder, then browse the menu bar to the "Go" menu. On your keyboard hold the Option key. The Library folder will show up there in the Go menu.

Once you've located the "data folder" and created the PUZZLES sub-folder (if necessary), then unZIP your downloaded book file (from below) into that PUZZLES folder. Once you've done that, then the book should appear when you open the "Select book" dialog in the game.

REMEMBER: Most of these books are from a time long, long ago... As such, some of them will contain material that is considered politically (socially) 'incorrect' today. Reading is dangerous, and I expect you to use your intelligence, wit, and other attractive features, to read these books with an understanding of the times in which they were written.

The demo and licensed versions are identical, except that the demo version has limited numbers of puzzles, and the licensed version may have additional support files (like extra image sets). So, if the demo version works for you, the licensed version will, too. If the demo version doesn't work for you, neither will the licensed version.

Generally, you don't need to un-install a demo version before installing the licensed version. The licensed version will install right over the top of the demo version and use all of the settings you've already created with the demo version.

NOTE: You can not upgrade your licensed version by installing a newer demo version over the top of the licensed version. You would just end up with a demo version.
