Willamette Disc Golf Club Monthly Meeting.12/3/2012 Present: Greg Alpert, Brianna Anderson-Greg, Jonathan Blatt, Bob Burton, Kelly Christianson, Bryce Downey, Jim Dubay, Billy Gaskill, Mike Gibson, Greg Johnson, Bear Judge, Everett Kaser (Presiding), Noah Parker, Dave Pittman, , John Ross, Jay Sexton, Nate Sexton, Eric Smith, Lane Tidwell, . Proposal for a vote on a presidential candidate discussion of their plans made by John Ross failed by a 6 to 6 vote. Treasurer’s Report (Greg Johnson) current status $4,800 in account. We still owe Parks for fees (Willamette est. 200 dollars). Not much financial action this month. Willamette Greenskeeper (Greg Alpert) Hole 1 long position , undeveloped, is 630 some feet long and par 4. Ideas of having an overall plan and/or having existing positions fixed so that they can be used with basket security before creating this new position was promoted. It was pointed out that making it longer will also increase the back-up at the beginning of the course. Vote of motion to put in the new position now carried by a slim majority. Repair of damaged positions will go forward with Billie Gaskill and Greg Alpert. Abe Downey now has a design for signs which will incorporate a map of the hole, bag hangers. A metal pole in concrete would be on one side or other of the tee pad. The use of bag hooks on signs was discussed. They utility of these might be for bad weather when small bags or clothes could be hung. They aren’t for everybody, but could be useful for some. Motion to include hangers failed. Discussion ensued about whether to have metal signs on poles vs having signs more like those at Adair, with wood as the predominant material. Motion to go ahead with the metal sign passed. Festivus (Greg J) He mentioned a local company as source of trophies. Greg doesn’t expect it to cost the Club much. The date is the last Saturday in January, the 26th. It will have 22 holes. Adair Greenskeeper (Nate) Basket on 8 is leaning. Nate plans to right it some rainy day. Wood on signs needs refinishing. This needs to be done in summer when wood is dry. Bench on 12 is loose and a bit of a hazard. Tree protectors are needed. Some wood is available, has been painted and drilled. Raking leaves off bark chip paths was suggested. Question of concrete tee pads raised by Billie Gaskill. There is a question of having the cash. A design discussion is needed. A design subcommittee reporting to the next meeting was proposed. Billie Gaskill will convene this committee. Adair Doubles (Mike). They are continuing. Mike and Craig are interested in having someone(s) volunteer to do one doubles per month. John Ross volunteered to do the doubles at Willamette which is held on the 2n Sunday of the Month. Disc Sales (Dave) Inventory is low. 285 discs. Takena (Dave) currently is partially under water. President’s Report: (Everett) City has given us a contract for use of Willamette Park for organized Club events; it is very similar to that of recent past years. We are required to indemnify the city and this requires us to hold insurance. President tabled this with intent to have a vote at January meeting after Greg does some looking into some possible changes in language regarding attorney’s fees etc. President’s Cup (Everett) Registration 7:30, Players’ meeting 8:15, Tee time 8:45. Course is markedly different than usual Adair. Most holes are reverse or safari. Election of Officers-President Jay Sexton was elected by a show of hands. His opponent, Mr John Ross, graciously conceded. Mr Everett Kaser was thanked for his years of service to the club as Adair Greenskeeper and more recently, as President. Note next month’s meeting will begin at 6 PM Respectfully submitted, Bob Burton, secy.
