Willamette Disc Golf Club Monthly Meeting April 5th, 2010. Present: Dave Pittman, Everett Kaser, Jim Dubay, Richard Raymond, Jay Sexton (Presiding), Bob Burton, Greg Johnson, Eric Smith, Craig Banner, Laura Bryngelson, Mark Martin, Rick Reichardt, James Hooper, Roy Albert, Sherry Dubay, Dion Arwyn. Ted Harbaugh, Mike Key. Treasurer’s Report (Greg says 2900 dollars. 200 dollar donation from April Fools. David reports 660 bucks more from disc sales. Some $200 in Ace pot reserve. Total is about 4100 dollars currently. We are below 400 discs so we’ll be spending some of that. We are hoping Kelley will design a disc for CFM purposes for Willamette Open fund-raising. Greg has a design idea. Greg plans a May 15th Open tournament Spring Fling in Blodgett. Club Members are asked to bring food for the event. WDGC Invitational was a huge success with fine weather and great turnout, usual brilliant TD ship. Eric Smith announced that this year's WASH will be July 24th at Adair. April Fools Doubles Dion thanked Club Members. It drew an overflow enrollment. A gift of 200 dollars was made to the Club and Dion intends to continue paying for use. Nate and Dion have discs that they use as prizes and finance their expenses. They intend to split the tournament, with an Am day and a Pro day next year. The C-Tier next day was attended by 48 disc-golfers. Dion is planning to offer a Disc Golf Clinic for Ams with Nate Sexton. Dion wants to get 30 -48 people to sign up. This may be offered in June or July. Staff for the daylong event: Nate, Dion, Collin, Kirk McCallister, lunch, disc swap, informal Q and A, 2 discs, possibly a Paradigm Shirt, specialized instruction, for $45. Dion is also planning a C-tier Fundraiser for the Willamette Open, which will be May 1st. Adair (Everett) New Position proposed to Al Kitsman (hole 10) with 3 proposed positions made by E. The short one was rejected. The middle one, which was on the berm in an intermediate distance, about 15-20 feet short of the manhole, was approved and seems the most interesting of those approved. Pres proposed putting up marking ribbons (which Everett has already done) so that we can look them over and make comments online, or to Everett Kaser or Jay. The far one (also approved) is just past the current long-left position, on the berm, but E prefers the intermediate. E is thinking of a new position on right of 8. Possibility of a new hole 4 placement is discussed and old issues with RCC reviewed. Everett Kaser announced that this is his last year as Adair greens keeper. Applications for position are being taken. Jay reports that the lock hasps on holes 8 and 9 have been repaired. Adair Doubles (Craig Banner) seems to be going well. It pulls in 12-20 people. Handicap Tourney at Adair: New Series will begin tomorrow 5:45 to be each Tuesday and Thursday for summer. Mike Storrs will run this benefit for the Willamette Open. Disc Tzar: Dave was able to reconcile inventory last week. Every disc currently in a club bin is accounted for with a corresponding line in the master spreadsheet. All discs that have moved out of inventory for the first quarter have been logged in the same spreadsheet. 395 discs is correct as of 4/1/2010 with a cost to the club of $3,115. The Squirrel's tribal logo disc run will again be a shared order between the club and Greg Little at Squirrel's. With discs available at the tavern and from the club. Look for DX Avair's & Roc's, R-Pro Bosses, Pro Katana's, a Star plastic disc and possibly a Champion plastic disc. The last two disc models still TBA. We're also working on getting a CFR fundraiser run for the Willamette Open into Innova for 50 Champion Katana's. An order of 100 to 150 stock discs is in the works to fill low spots in inventory. Dave'll be meeting with Mark & Laura about a Calapooia brewing logo disc run that would be a shared venture similar to the Squirrel's order with discs being available at the brewery and from the club. The first Willamette Open Qualifier tournament will be on Sunday May 2nd with a triples event on Saturday May 1st. Capital City Ace Run, benefit for our Salem Club just getting started, to be held next month, received 30 dollars hole sponsorship from WDGC after a motion and a vote by show of hands; we are also contributing the services of our Disc Czar, who will provide discs to event at a price that will be a wash to our club and will benefit the Ace Run. President’s Report: (Jay) Buying insurance is part of relationship to Willamette Park. The price will be 740 dollars this year instead of some 500 last year. This allows us to sell discs at our events there (3 instead of 2) as well as at other times. This provides 1 million liability, plus 10K individual injury. This protects us from suits against the Club as well as protecting the City, which insists on the insurance in order to give us a privileged relationship with it at Willamette Park. Jay’s plan is to get the insurance one more year and then reevaluate its value to the club, in view of the increasing premiums. The Benton county Parks Master Plan hearings are important for the future of disc golf in our community. Jay has published a schedule of these. He attends many of these, but it would be more impressive if we had voices from the back of the room as well. Idea was raised of circulating a petition for another disc golf park in the system. Philomath Middle School had a basket stolen and we discussed possibly helping with that, but no action was taken. Respectfully submitted, Bob Burton, secy.
