WILLAMETTE DISC GOLF CLUB MEETING – DEC 7, 2009 Present: Dave Pittman, Everett Kaser, Richard Raymond, Kelley Christiansen, Jay Sexton (Presiding), Bob Burton, Greg Johnson, Eric Smith, Mike Gibson, Tony Hoyman, Mark Martin, Kenny Fasse, Mike Gibson, Ted Harbaugh, Rick Reichard, Mike Storrs, Sam Storrs. TREASURER'S REPORT (GREG): Month was unique in that we already have a bank statement for last month. Club Balance is 1350 dollars with Festivus coming on, but there are more dollars lurking in hands of Mike Gibson, and Mark Martin, who along with his wife, Laura Bryngelson, have sponsored our big tournament, the WO. Mark wrote a check for their $800 sponsorship of the WO XI at the meeting, bringing the total on hand to $2150. FESTIVUS 9 (GREG): Registration is now open. Members are requested to sign up to bring Chili, corn bread, etc. We will need to get in and help modify the course up to 22 holes, with special features. ADAIR (EVERETT): Adair is back to 19 baskets, but we are short of anchors. Holes 4 and 6 both need removal of poison oak. Ranger Bruce has been out for back surgery and blackberry and poison oak spraying didn’t happen as a result. Parks won’t let us “vigilante style” do the spraying ourselves. We can however, get started on hole 10 stair construction to facilitate disc recovery from atop the berm. Everett Kaser has trenched around hole 14 basket position to minimize the “wetlands putting” previously encountered. WILLAMETTE (JAY AND OTHERS): The Trifecta was a big success, 10 pro groups, 20 intermediate groups and 2 rec groups played. ADAIR DOUBLES (MIKE GIBSON): seems to be going well. Participation has been up and down. 250-300 dollars have been raised. HANDICAP TOURNEY (MIKE STORRS): at Adair is going along just fine. DISC SALES (DAVE): We have a 4000-dollar inventory in discs. This is one of the reasons that we have a smaller balance in the checking account. PRESIDENT'S REPORT (JAY): Vote to continue PDGA Club status passed. Jay and Bob Burton will be offering an introduction to disc golf for mature men and women. Calapooia disc golf club is having its monthly tournament at Bryant this coming Sunday (the 12th). This is roughly the 11th anniversary of the start of Willamette Park Disc Golf Course and the 10th of the WDGC. Kenny related the process, which started with his, and Greg Johnson attending a tournament at Timber Park, getting seed money from Full Sail and the City Parks Dept with Kenny, Greg Johnson, Greg Alpert, and Pat Farrell all involved in the early negotiations. Chris and Theresa Bellenger lived nearby and got interested in what was happening in their park. The Club really didn’t formally begin until after the course was installed and the first tournament run by Greg Johnson had already been played. Mark Martin, Jay and Tony, Eric, were all present at early club meetings. Tonight we celebrated with a delicious carrot cake from the 1st Alt Coop contributed by Tony and Jay. Respectfully submitted, Bob Burton, secy.
