Willamette Disc Golf Club Monthly Meeting 2/5/08 Present: Everett Kaser, Jim Dubay, Richard Raymond, Kelley Christianson, Jay Sexton (Presiding), Bob Burton, Greg Johnson, Eric Smith, Mike Gibson, Casey Lohrman, Craig Banner, Kim Halsey, Larry Evans, Brad McDougall. Treasurer’s Report (Greg) currently 1780 dollars. This fugure is after 560 dollars for ins, 960 to Innova, were spent. One more expense will be our payment to City which definitely needs to be paid before August and at least partially needs to be paid beginning March 15th. Adair (Everett) Everett has been hesitant to push forward on permanent stairs at the 3 to 4 walkout trail because Parks is in middle of long- range planning and doesn’t want much done until that is complete. There is a need for stairs in middle of hole 10 fairway over berm for errant throw retrieval. Brad has access to railroad ties thru his work that will be very useful with projects around Adair. Adair Doubles (Mike Gibson) seems to be going well. A lot of people are playing regularly. Ace pot has 323 dollars, plus 100 held in reserve. Handicap Tourney at Adair (Mike) Still have winter level attendance, but expectations are for larger turnouts this month. Disc Sales (Greg standing in for Dave) There are new discs including Discraft Discs for the 1st time in a long time. There are Gooves from Innova which are lighter wts and made of champion plastic. Bosses are now available in Star plastic also. The R Pro Dart is coming out. The latter two discs haven’t been purchased yet, but will be soon. Oregon Series Changes: Chris and Teresa Bellinger have stopped running it. However they still may run some tournaments. Mike Ruzika will have some overarching coordinator role but there won’t be a “company store” for the series. The local clubs will have to assume some of the jobs such as scoring during the tournament, and arranging for am prizes. Kelley suggested that we come up with a gift for the Bellingers and Todd from the Club. There was discussion unresolved, about what the gift should be. There is an opportunity for expanding into the growing pine plantation at Willamette with some alternative placements or new holes.. Craig Banner has a friend who teaches in Belize and has access to a course there whom he would like to befriend with some donated used discs. President’s Report: (Jay Sexton) Jay proposed buying PDGA rule books, but Greg thought we had a stash somewhere. Motion made and approved unanimously to buy rulebooks if and when they are needed. April Fool’s Doubles Tournament run by Nate Sexton at Adair will be Sunday, March 29 . The insurance we’ve purchased will have coverage for unanticipated adverse occurrences happening to players, volunteers TDs, etc at organized events such as . The policy requires that we sign a waiver which makes us agree to not sue WDGC etc. It is usual practice and we will need to sign it in order for us to have the coverage for liabilities. It will begin about March 15th, he thinks. Mike Storrs: Chitchat at OSA has it that WDGC is a good disc vendor, and we may be asked to support other tournaments than our own. This of course, will be mutually beneficial. Respectfully submitted, Bob Burton, secy.
