Festivus. (Jan 24th) (Greg) He brought the score board to congratulate the winners again. The WDGC helped pull it off and Greg thanks them. He singles out Eric Smith, Jay Sexton, Casey Lohman, Mark Martin, Dave Pittman, Everett Kaser. The club spontaneously thanks Greg with a round of applause. A dog at the Tournament bit a woman and she was forced to go to the Emergency Room. We need to get an address to contact Kevin Allen, the spouse, to learn about her progress. Craig Banner may have Kevin Allen’s email address. Doubles: Craig. Last Sunday was the 1st random doubles; 8 people showed on Super Bowl Sunday. Ace Pot is 242 dollars. $103 dollars were raised in Mulligans. Craig would like to have some discs for a CTP prize to spice up the match. Proposal to use some of the Mulligan money for discs was discussed, and approved. Handicap Tourney at Adair Adair (Everett) He’d like to have a work party this month. Discussion about replacing the aging tee pads gradually with concrete ensued. The parks authorities are willing to have us do that as long as we leave a flat plane surface that the mower can travel over. Doing just one the first day for the experience was the consensus. [Subsequent to the meeting, contact has been made with Benton County Parks, and the concrete tee pads are on HOLD until they finish their Master Plan for Adair, which may take 1-2 years.] Willamette (see President’s Report) Disc Czar –We had a net gain of 20 discs after Festivus. 200 dollars in script are outstanding. Two disc order, which will include a modified Boss down to 165 grams, which has a grooved rim. 10 DX destroyers, 10 pearl Wriaths, 5 star Maxes, 15 star Monarchs are coming. He also ordered Discraft discs, Buzz in elite Z plastic, ESB4, SurgeSS, FLX (total of 56 discs) President’s Report: (Jay) It is possible to buy PDGA memberships with a 5-dollar discount thru the club. Jay is taking money for this now. Bylaws: After several months of careful perusal over the web, etc. they were approved unanimously. City position on insurance: After further conversations of our president with the Parks department, we will only assume a maximum liability of 100,000 dollars per incident (the policy is for $1,000,000) according to the modified contract with the City. We are allowed up to 2 tournaments per year, to be scheduled with City. . We must pay 340 dollars concessions permit each year. 40% of this can take the form of in-kind payment in work, and materials etc. Associated with this is the liability insurance we must carry which will cost another 500 dollars. Advantages in this venture to the club are two fold: 1. having all official activities of the club covered by insurance. 2. Also the ability to sell club discs at Willamette is viewed as a big advantage and several members expressed their willingness to sit at the 1st tee and sell discs on Summer Saturdays for 3 hours. Someone proposed that we could raise the money for insurance by staging a tournament at Willamette aimed at the numerous young players who frequent that course. A motion to accept the contract as negotiated was approved unanimously. County Parks is preparing a master plan for Adair. The Model plane group has mobilized to represent its interest and we are advised to perhaps also be represented at the planning meetings. Respectfully submitted, Bob Burton, secy.
