WDGC Meeting Aug 5, 2008 President Jay, Secretary Bob and Under-Secretary John were all missing in action, so the third string was called in to temporarily fill all vacant positions. Eric Smith talked about the WASH VI, Sept 20th. Still needs money and sponsorships for T-shirts and prizes. Kelly Christiansen mentioned that Eric and several others donated to the WASH their scrip winnings from the Calapooia Classic. Treasurer Greg Johnson reported $415 received from Dion's 2nd tournament. The club has $2048 in the club checking account. Disc Tzar Dave has some money, but may use some of it to buy discs from the Albany Club (see below). Disc Tzar Dave says it's been a busy month. The club 'lost' $6 on Dion's first tournament, made $28 on the second (outside of the WOX 'donation' from Dion's tournament player fees). 89 discs were sold from club inventory, 207 were bought, current inventory around 379. Over $500 has been raised for the WOX via the fundraiser discs. Dave proposes: the WDGC didn't contribute to the Calapooia Classic this year, and the Albany Club has about 45 CC discs left over. Since the WDGC moves discs much faster than the Albany Club, he moves that the WDGC buy 18-20 of the CC tournament discs from the Albany Club at the cost of $9.55/disc. The motion is modified to buy the discs at $11/disc (to give the Albany Club a LITTLE profit, to help with basket purchases). The modified motion is seconded and passed unanimously. Dave also reported that local players did well in the Calapooia Classic: Nate took 1st, Colin 2nd (first time for 1-2 finish for them), Dion took 8th, Kelly finished 11th (cashed!), Kim placed 2nd behind Teresa, Chris Wilcox placed 2nd in MA1, Eric Smith took 1st in MM1, Bob Fultz took 1st and Jim Dubay took 3rd in MG1, and Josh Johnson took 1st in MA2. Adair Greenskeeper Everett reported that there is a pile of gravel that needs to be moved to finish the new path on #4 and thicken the paths from #5 basket to #6 tee, and from #6 tee to the woods. There is also a small pile of larger rock that needs to be used to 'harden' the inflow and outflow of the culverts on #6 and #10. There are HUGE piles of woodchips behind #3 tee and in the parking lot that need to be spread. The piles in the parking lot should be primarily loaded into pickups, driven into the RC field and down to basket 7 and/or tee 8, and unloaded into wheelbarrows, then spread from there in the woods holes. Much of the woods need the paths freshened up. Much of the blackberries between #3 basket and #4 tee have been cleared, and a new walkout path from 3 to 4 is being established that avoids walking out to the road. It needs a little more levelling, maybe a few 'steps', and a covering of wood chips. Mike Storrs proposes that the leaning tree on #10 needs to come down, and that he'd like to see a few small trees removed on #8 and the trees in the ditch limbed up, and 1 tree on 9 removed. Mike will flag the trees proposed for removal, discussion will ensue on the Yahoo group, and a final vote by email and at the Sept meeting. He wants to finish this up (assuming approval) before WOX. Jim Dubay reports that he has a neighbor that can do all the welding we want on collars and sleeves. Kelly Christiansen wants to move the practice basket closer to #1, beside the #1 parking lot. There is some dissension. It will be fairly easy to do once we get more anchors made. Decision is put off until then. Mike Storrs reports that the turnout for the Handicap League is lower than he'd hoped. Asked the club to donate a few discs for prizes to the over-all points winner. Greg Johnson found the list of players from the first Willamette tournament. From that and the other tournament lists that he has, he concludes that NO person has played in ALL of the Willamette tournaments. Of the players from that first tournament, the only ones who have played in the last 6 tournaments are Jim Dubay, Greg Johnson, Andrew Rich, John Ross, Chris Bell, Mark Martin, and Eric Smith, and he knows that all of those people missed at least one of the other tournaments. Mike Storrs hopes that the WOX winning Pro can take home at least $750. The meeting devolved into general name calling, bickering, and drunken carousing, so all further business was postponed for September, when more responsible persons will return. Respectfully submitted, Under-under-secretary Everett
