Willamette Disc Golf Club Monthly Meeting 2/5/08 Present: Dave Pittman, Everett Kaser, Jim Dubay, Richard Raymond, Kelley Christianson, John Ross, Jay Sexton (Presiding), Bob Burton, Greg Johnson, Eric Smith, Mike Gibson, Tony Hoyman, Craig Banner Treasurer's Report (Greg) $2573 on hand. Planning disc purchase (around $200) Festivus (Greg) Cost/Income were roughly equal as planned. Thinking about changes: questions about the "E" hole which was difficult and felt by some to cause arbitrariness to the contest. There are thoughts of shortening the course to avoid finishing after dark. There is a need to bring more food as chili ran out before the very last players got in to eat. There was also a suggestion of having energy bars to provide for such emergencies. Adair (Everett) Work Party didn't happen last Saturday and we would like to reschedule, focusing on cleaning out blackberries on both sides of the berm along hole 10. The temporary bridge on 14 was discussed as being helpful but requiring periodic changes to avoid forming beaten paths, killing grass, etc. Everett is tending to this. Idea of replacing wearing tee pads with concrete incrementally as the pads wear out or at high "torque holes such as 5, 12, 13, and 18 was discussed, but there was resistance to changing from some members who prefer the feel of type of tee pads we have. Willamette (Jay and others) New flanges have been welded on at least some of the damaged basket mounts. There is a perception that many trees are falling over, being trimmed out, and there is no replacement occurring. Jay will raise this issue with the City Parks folks. Question of a work party for Willamette was raised, idea of spreading bark dust around basket sites. Brad McDougall has expressed interest in the work party. Some group is using the park for night golf with glow sticks and leaving the litter. Adair Doubles (Mike Gibson) seems to be going well. The ace pot has grown to 200 dollars plus. This Sunday Doubles will be at Willamette Park, to avoid crowding with the Oregon team golf group coming, and also to try and recruit some of the Willamette crowd who don't seem to get to Adair. Handicap Tourney at Adair: nobody reported, but this continues to occur at 2 pm and will not be moved this coming Sunday. Disc Sales (Dave) Dave is planning a replenishment order and submitted a preliminary list. He is ordering about 200 dollars worth of good stuff. President's Report: () Native shrubs and trees have been planted between 2 and 3 at Adair. Plan is to get native grasses in torn-up areas like Adair fairway number 10. Greg Alpert would like to have a club Bowling Night. This idea will be put on the yahoo site for further planning. Ranger Blaine of Benton County has retired to sail around the world, and Jay Sexton has applied. Members expressed a need to update the Web picture and put in a picture of our membership with a banner showing our sponsor, Calapooia Brewing, instead of Full Sail, which no longer supports club activities. Albany Club monthly will meet at Adair this Saturday. Respectfully submitted, Bob Burton, secy.
